Obituary

Wayne L. Morris, father, grandfather, brother and friend, entered eternal rest peacefully surrounded by great love and respect on September 24, 2025. Born in Westfield MA on February 2,1944 to the late Leon and Irma (Cabrini) Morris. Wayne attended local schools and graduated from Agawam High School in 1962. Following graduation, he enlisted in the United States Navy, where he served his country honorably as a communications technician stationed at Treasure Island then in Japan.

Wayne returned home to become a valuable member of the team at Western Mass Electric Company, starting his career as a lineman. He attended Western New England College, so he could transition to a field consultant until his retirement after 36 years. He wed his beloved wife Bonnie in 1967, who preceded him in passing earlier this year, and together they welcomed their children, Paul of Highlands Ranch, CO, and Shelly of Easton, MA. They lived in Feeding Hills for 40 years, summered at their place in Wellfleet, and spent fifty-seven years happily married. After retirement, Wayne and Bonnie spent winters in Florida before returning to the area, settling in West Springfield. Wayne enjoyed traveling, watching New England sports, golfing, camping, fishing, and being close to the ocean. He found immense joy in spending time with his family and friends. He was a proud Red Sox fan and long-time member of the Dante Club and the Elks. Wayne lived each day to the fullest and showered those around him with love, laughter and loyalty. His legacy will remain with those whose lives he touched.

Surviving Wayne are his beloved children, Paul and his wife Meghan of Colorado, and Shelly and her partner Beth Devonshire, and his adored grandchildren Vienna, Tyler and Jack who will fondly remember and carry his memory in their hearts. He will be greatly missed by his loving sisters Francine Bennett and her husband Steven and Linnea Rachek and her husband John. His million-dollar smile won the hearts of the amazing staff who cared for him in his last few months at the Veterans Home in Holyoke.

Visitation with the family will be held on October 29,2025 at the Agawam Funeral Home 184 Main Street from 9 until 10 A.M. concluding with a funeral home service. Committal with full military honors will follow at 11 A.M. at the Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery. Memorial donations in Wayne's name may be made to the Veteran's Home of Holyoke.
