Stephen D
Prew
February 26, 2026
A man is as good as his word. A man's reputation is often judged by how well he keeps his word. It displays his respect for others, loyalty, and trustworthiness. It reflects a fundamental moral principle that values honesty and integrity. The man referred to is Stephen D. Prew who left this world on his own terms on Wednesday February 26,2026 in the comfort of his home "the farm". He was born to the late Frank George and Dorothy Dickson Prew and spent his youth in Agawam attending local schools. Steve was a proud veteran serving his country in the United States Army and later earning his college degree. He went on to become a master electrician as well as an entrepreneur creating a successful electrical contracting company. Steve took immense pride in his work while maintaining the highest level of safety and quality. He welcomed each project as a challenge and spent as much time in preparation as he did the actual work. He always believed he left his work area much cleaner than he found it. Steve was true to any commitment he made no matter the effort it took to complete it. He was always willing to help, and his clients became trusted friends. Steve enjoyed his free time as well. For those of us that had the good fortune to be in his life we knew his passion for the stock market and how in depth he studied it. He loved to ride his BMW motorcycle which accompanied him through his European trips. Steve was an avid golfer and spent countless hours using his fourteen-acre backyard as his personal driving range. Steve believed in being physically fit and began each day with a workout. He was an avid skier for a great part of his life and had the pleasure of skiing all over Europe. He loved creating his garden each year and had no problem sharing his harvest with the creatures that lived on his land. Steve had great appreciation for the outdoors, loved nature, and had a special spot for cats and dogs, especially his dog Bear and cat Able. Above all Steve loved his friends and was a committed individual who invested deeply in his relationships. He was kind, considerate and generous. Steve was always cheerful and never outdone when it was time to dress for any occasion. His laugh was infectious and his eyes as blue as the ocean. Those in his life will carry him in their hearts forever. A man of character none better.
Friends are invited to pay their respects to Steve on Friday March 6,2026 from 3 until 5 P.M at the Agawam Funeral Home 184 Main Street in Agawam concluding with a service beginning at 5 P.m.
