Obituary

October 2, 1928 - February 20, 2026

Ruth Muench Davis, age 97, passed away peacefully on February 20, 2026 in South Windsor Connecticut. She was born on October 2, 1928, to George and Edna Muench, and grew up in Jersey City, New Jersey on a street filled with cousins, aunts and uncles. Family was always at the center of Ruth's world.

After graduating from Lincoln High School in Jersey City, Ruth began her career in New York City where she worked as an executive secretary. She married Darcy B. Davis in 1951 and moved to Bennington, Vermont and later to Agawam, Massachusetts where they raised their family.

Ruth was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She was very involved in her church, the First Baptist Church of Agawam where she generously gave her time and talents including the Church Kitchen at the annual Eastern States Exposition and the Christmas Jingle Valley Fair. Along with close friends, Ruth helped to start a kindergarten at the church where she taught science and arts and crafts.

Ruth later worked at Elmcrest Country Club in East Longmeadow as a banquet consultant and wedding planner. She loved helping couples and families plan joyful celebrations and meaningful events.

Ruth was a talented seamstress and knitter, and she had a special gift for poetry. Family could always count on receiving a rhyming poem with each gift — treasured keepsakes that reflected her creativity.

Ruth's smile could light up a room.

In addition to her parents, Ruth was predeceased by her husband Darcy, in 2020, and her brother George, in 1992.

Ruth is survived by her daughter, Lynn Davis of Boston, Massachusetts; her son, Darcy G. Davis of Vernon, Connecticut and his wife Karen; her granddaughter, Hillary Davis Burgdorf and her husband Paul of Raleigh, North Carolina; her granddaughter, Hannah Davis and her partner John Michael Mason of Old Wethersfield, Connecticut; and her beloved great-grandchildren, Nolan and PJ Burgdorf.

There will be a celebration of Ruth's life on March 23 at 11:00 a.m. at the First Baptist Church, 760 Main Street, Agawam, Massachusetts. All are invited. The family asks that any donations be made to the First Baptist Church of Agawam.
