Robert Arthur Simmons, Jr.
March 30, 1942 – March 15, 2025
A good and kind man and the love of his wife's life, Robert Arthur Simmons, "Bob" originally from Rhode Island and currently, Agawam, MA, died peacefully on March 15, 2025, at the age of 82. Bob leaves his loving wife, Faith Simmons, and two sons, Steven Robert Simmons, his wife, Heidi, David Lewis Simmons, his wife Kati, and the light and joy of his life, his two grandchildren, Libby and Garrett, his beloved sister Wendy Petrarca predeceased brother-in-law Ernest; as well as cherished nephew, niece, cousins, true and treasured abiding friends and Godmother Eleanor.
Bob grew up in West Warwick, RI and served in the U.S. Army five years. Bob was a true people person and had a gift for gab; and if you knew him, you most likely were on the receiving end of one of his corny jokes. He always had a smile on his face and a kind word for everyone.
Nothing made him happier than riding on his motorcycle or his perfectly kept truck with the wind in his face earning him the moniker "Hot Rod" with his sons and their clan. He was most proud of his family and serving as Master Mason of Mount Moriah Lodge in Westfield Ma from 2001 – 2002. He was also a member of the Melha Shriner Riders.
Bob dabbled in many things He did a little flying, played the piano, he was a wonderful cook (noted for his outstanding clam chowder), he enjoyed pen and ink drawing, twig painting, jazz music, photography, target shooting and most especially spending time with family and friends. He had a gentle wit – loved animals – just loved life. He was a true Renaissance man.
Private Services for Bob will be held at a later date at the Rhode Island Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Exeter, RI. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or the Alzheimer's Association.
