Obituary

Robert E. King, beloved patriarch of the King family, entered eternal rest on July 17,2025 encircled by the love of his children. Born in Springfield on December 28,1937 to the late Robert and Clara (Bryant) King, he was raised and educated there graduating from Springfield Trade High School class of 1955. Robert began his career as a valued member of the Agawam Police Department. He also began his most important and impactful role as a proud father to his seven cherished children. Robert developed an enterprising spirit as a young man and his hard work and business acumen afforded him the opportunity to become the successful owner of the King Ward Coach lines. This venture was the beginning of a family affair and today is known as King Gray Coach lines. Robert was so proud to have such a large and loving family. In his leisure he enjoyed traveling to Disney in Florida, being one of his favorite destinations. He was an avid sports fan having a love for all New England teams and was a proud season ticket holder for the Springfield Thunderbirds. He also found antiquing to be an interesting pastime. Robert was a true dog lover considering them family. His love knew no bounds and his devotion to his family was unwavering.

Surviving Robert are his devoted children; Lori Gray and her husband Bill, Mark King and his wife Elaine, Pam Graves and her husband Steve, Kim Censullo, Dennis King and his wife Debbie, Thomas King and his wife Becki and Rebecca McDearmon and her husband Josh. To carry on his legacy, he leaves his cherished grandchildren; Matt, Meghan, Robert, Michelle, Allison, Scott, Erica, Sarah, Christina, Keith, Ben, Mary Jane, his beloved grand dogs and thirteen great grandchildren. He will be missed immensely by his sister Eileen Grobard, brother Richard King, his companion Sandra, a large extended family, and countless friends. Sadly, he was predeceased by his loving wife Carroll Ahearn-King, his former wife Nancy J King, grandson Landon, brother Donald "Mickey' King and sister Barbara Warren-each of whom he now joins in eternal peace.

Visitation with his family will be held on Thursday July 24,2025 from 4-7 P.M. at the Agawam Funeral Home 184 Main Street concluding with a service at 7 P.M. Memorial donations in Robert's name may be made to the Agawam Senior Center.
