Michael Bartley (59) passed peacefully at Holyoke Medical Center surrounded by loved ones on January 20, 2026, five days before his 60th birthday.  Born in Presque Isle, ME on January 25, 1966, he was raised in Southwick, MA and graduated from Southwick-Tolland Regional High School in 1984 before attending Holyoke Community College majoring in music.  His love of music came from his maternal grandfather, the late Lawrence McMennamin.

While living in Western Massachusetts earlier in his adult life, Michael worked with developmentally disabled individuals, most notably at Sunshine Village in Chicopee, MA for many years.  He was kind, considerate and generous and loved by his clients.  He spent the last 20 years of his life in Portsmouth, NH before moving to Holyoke, MA in late 2024.  He had been previously active in theater groups within Western Massachusetts and Portsmouth, NH

Michael is survived by his sister Lori Mountain and nephew Justin Mountain of Feeding Hills, MA and a large extended family in/from Presque Isle, ME.  He also leaves his dear friend John Twining of Brookfield, MA and daughter Geri-Jean Twining of Oxford, MA, as well as life-long friends Bill Hardie and Gregory Combs.  He was predeceased by his father Charles "Albert" Bartley (2006), loving mother Ann (McMennamin) Bartley (2022), and beloved dog "Mickey" (2023).

Memorial donations can be made in Michael's name to Sunshine Village, 75 Litwin Lane, Chicopee MA 01020

Burial will be private.  A Celebration of Life will be planned for this summer.
