Mary P. Burns
February 10, 1938 – May 8, 2024

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Mary P. Burns, a cherished resident of Agawam, MA, who left us peacefully on May 8, 2024, at age 86. Born on February 10, 1938, in Fresno, California, to Robert E. Marsh and Mary Etta Jones, Mary was a beacon of kindness and compassion to all who knew her. She was predeceased by her beloved parents.

Mary dedicated over 50 years of her life to the community of Western Mass, where she worked as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) at Sisters of Providence in Holyoke, MA. Her commitment to caring for others was evident in her rewarding career.

Mary was a woman of many passions. Music was her solace, and she found joy in melodies that stirred the soul. Her love for nature was evident in her passion for bird watching, which brought her peace and a deeper connection to the world around her. Animals, especially cats, held a special place in her heart, and she was known for her gentle and nurturing spirit.

For Mary, family was everything. She found her greatest joy in the company of her loved ones. She leaves behind her beloved children: Richard Darby of California, Robert Darby of Agawam, MA, and Linda Petrucci of Suffield, CT. Her legacy lives on through her adored grandchildren, JB, Joseph, Samuel, Melissa, Melanie, Richard, Analisa, as well as her three great-grandchildren.

Mary's warmth, generosity, and love for life will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her memory will forever remain in our hearts as we remember the joy she brought.

Calling hours will be held on June 10, 2024, from 12:00 PM to 1:30 PM, with a funeral home service starting at 1:30 PM.
