The Lord called Margaret Smith Muzzy safely home on November 22, 2025, after a tragic event that led to her untimely passing. She was born on June 26, 1955, to the late Charles J and Maureen (Hogan) Smith Jr and spent her early years in Springfield before settling in West Springfield. She graduated from Springfield Technical High School and earned her associates degree choosing a career in the health care field. She wed her beloved husband John Muzzy in 2013, and he was indeed her soulmate.
Margaret, or Maggie as she was known, was a loving and compassionate woman who sought to show her love for her faith by giving of herself to help others in need. She volunteered many selfless hours to come to the aid of others and participated in a mission to build a school in Kenya in 2008. For many years, she volunteered at the food bank at Bethany Assembly of God, providing meals for people in need. She had a great love for animals and was the rescuer for countless cats in need. She was a beacon of faith and kindness throughout her life. Her faith and her family brought her great joy, and she will remain in their hearts forever.
Margaret was an avid fan of the Boston Red Sox and the Buffalo Bills.
Surviving Margaret is her loving and devoted husband John and her siblings Maureen Vogus (Dave) and Sally Hoskin (Greg). She is also survived by her many beloved nieces and nephews. She also leaves to carry on her legacy, a large extended family and many friends. She is predeceased by her brothers Charles Smith III and Kevin Smith and her sisters Doris Stewart, Susan Smith and Patricia Axiotis,and her dear nephew Michael Axiotis.
Services for Margaret will be held on Saturday, April 18,2026 at 1pm at Bethany Assembly of God on 580 Main St in Agawam, MA
