Obituary

Lois T. DePalo, 76, of Agawam, passed away peacefully on May 14, 2026. Born on July 29, 1949, Lois lived a life centered on family, love, laughter, and creating lasting memories with those she cherished most.

Lois was the beloved daughter of the late Elsbeth "Honey" (Delsandro) DePalo and Michael A. DePalo. She was also predeceased by her siblings, Gloria (DePalo) Deitz and Nicholas M. DePalo, as well as her devoted life partner and soulmate, Melvin G. Lingley.

She leaves behind her loving daughter, Alison L. Lingley; her treasured grandson, Tavis J. Lingley; 2 nieces and 2 nephews; a large and loving extended family of brothers- and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, and dear friends and her dear companion Chewy who shared in so many memories throughout her life."

After graduating high school, Lois began her career as a typesetter, a profession she dedicated herself to for many years while working for a few different companies, eventually retiring from Millennium Press in Agawam, where she was respected for her strong work ethic and dedication. Yet beyond her career, Lois's greatest pride and joy was her family. She was an amazing mother and a devoted grandmother whose love and support were constant gifts.

Lois treasured the values of family and togetherness that shaped her own childhood, and she carried those values throughout her life as she raised her family with the same love and care. She especially enjoyed family events and backyard barbecues, celebrating holidays surrounded by loved ones, vacationing at the Cape, and taking motorcycle rides with Melvin — whether headed somewhere special or simply enjoying the freedom of the open road together. And of course, she had a love of chocolate, which always brought a smile to her face.

When Melvin passed away, a part of Lois went with him. Though deeply missed, her family finds comfort in knowing she is now at peace and reunited once again with Melvin and the many loved ones who passed before her.

Funeral services will be held at the Agawam Funeral Home on Thursday, May 28, 2026, from 4:00–7:00 p.m., with a service beginning at 6:30 p.m. Family and friends are invited to gather in remembrance and celebration of Lois's life.
