Obituary

It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of Joseph A Lombardi Sr. Joe was born November 24, 1947, to his late parents Joseph (Jeppe) Lombardi and Margaret (Peggy) Whalen, Joe was raised and educated in Springfield, Ma. He later moved to Feeding Hills, MA, where he resided with his wife Kathy and together, they built a life together of over 50 years. In the early years they would love to go on cruises with their children or family and friends. Kathy and Joe enjoyed entertaining in their beautiful yard or going on adventures with their children.  Joe coached women's softball for many years when they won many championships. He loved all the golfing trips to Florida with his grandsons and golf buddies. The last few years he has dedicated his life to caring for his beautiful wife and making sure she was comfortable.  Joe was a proud machinist at Hamilton Standard (Collins Aerospace) for over 40 years. Joe started the Hamilton Open there and continued to expand the tournament through the years, he also started the Wednesday night golf league and ran both for over 25 years at Oak Ridge in Feeding Hills.

Oak Ridge was Joe's home away from home, all you had to say was golf and you had Joe's attention, after a nice round of golf you could find him on the 19th hole enjoying a cold beverage and good conversation with his golf buddies along with his favorite bartenders Sam and Monika.

No one made sauce like Joe- self-proclaimed to be the best. He enjoyed shopping looking for great bargain. Although very picky food wise, he found a couple favorites that he went to weekly chicken franchise from EB's, veal parm from Casa di Lisa or cannoli from Giovannis.

No one took more pride in his yard than Joe- but most of all his favorite thing to do was sitting on the back deck with his wife Kathy and daughter Cheri where they shared many late nights admiring the backyard, telling stories while sipping on a Coors Light.

He leaves behind to mourn his loss his wife Kathleen Earnest-Lombardi, his children Joseph Jr. Lombardi (Ranae), Cheri Rogers (Howard), Paul, Sean (Kim) Earnest. His cherished grandchildren Justine (Keith), Paul Jr, Zack (Britney), Cody (Kylie), Molly, Joey, Bentley (Adain), Garrett (Olivia), Jillian and Emma. Great Grandchildren Aubree, Amelia, Londyn, Charlie, Layla, and Lucas, his faithful companion Rufus.

He leaves his siblings Joanne, Liz (Bill) and Denise (Jeff), he leaves his Godson Al DeSimone, his Uncle Ernie (Louise), his hospital buddy Jordyn, his in-laws George ( Sharon), Rudy (Jackie), Mark (Gretchen) and Betty (Dan)  along  with his neighbor Alex, who has helped him out a lot the past few years all in exchange for a cannoli or Boston cream donut, a host close friends, family and the best neighbors.

Besides his parents Joe was preceded by his brothers Michael Sr. and Peter. The Lombardi boys have once again reunited; hope heaven is prepared for them.
