Joseph P
Audette
July 15, 1946 – May 7, 2026
With great sadness and much love, the family of Joseph P. Audette announces his peaceful passing on May 7, 2026, surrounded by the comfort of his family.
Born on July 15, 1946, to the late Lionel and Alice (Elie) Audette, Joseph spent his youth in Springfield and graduated from Cathedral High School in 1965. He proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War with the 1st Cavalry. Following his military service, Joseph began a distinguished 42-year career with the United States Postal Service, where he was known as a dedicated, dependable, and trustworthy letter carrier until his retirement.
Joseph was a devoted family man whose children were the center of his world. He never missed an important event in their lives and treasured every moment spent with them. In his free time, he was an avid reader who spent countless hours studying Civil War history.
A selfless and compassionate man, Joseph was a friend of Bill's who quietly mentored and supported many people in need. He believed deeply in giving others the same opportunities that had been given to him. Above all else, he was a loving father whose kindness, humility, and steady presence will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
Joseph is survived by his beloved children: his son, Michael Audette, and wife, Lynnsey; his daughter, Anne-Marie Audette, and her partner, Jack Smith Jr.; and his cherished grandchildren, Grace, Michael Jr., and Jack Smith III. He also leaves his loving brothers, Lionel, Raymond, and Armand Audette, as well as his former wife, Joan Audette. In addition to his parents, Joseph was predeceased by his brothers, Roger and Gerard Audette, and stepdaughter Shelley Orciari.
Visitation with his family will be held on Friday May 15, 2026 beginning at 9 A.M. concluding with a funeral home service at 10 A.M. at the Agawam Funeral Home 184 Main Street in Agawam. Committal with full military honors will follow at 11 A.M. at the Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery.
