Obituary

Jonathan C. Plassmann, born on December 23, 1962, in Limestone, Maine, passed away unexpectedly on January 15, 2025.

Jon graduated from Ware High School in 1980 and upon completion of US Army ROTC training and graduation from the University of Massachusetts, Jon was appointed a Second Lieutenant, Chemical Corps US Army. He was a veteran of the Persian Gulf War. He was honorably discharged from the Army, achieving the rank of Captain.

He worked as a Police Officer for Dalton and Belchertown police departments as a Reserve Police Officer and ultimately retired as a Sergeant after 34 years of service with the Massachusetts Environmental Police in 2021.

Jon met Angela, the love of his life, in 2000. They were married on December 18, 2005, surrounded by their family and loving friends. Together, the two accomplished many dreams and created countless wonderful memories. Jon and Angela turned their dreams into reality, including building their "cabin in the woods" in Maine. Jon was known for his love of the outdoors. Some of his most beloved passions were fishing, hunting, pranks and shenanigans, the elusive hunt for Sasquatch, and most notably, his love of Christmas.

He was a culinary enthusiast and could often be found comforting family and friends with his amazing meals. His affinity for bird hunting was shared by his two loyal dogs, Satie and Reagan. Jon had a passion for teaching others and imparting his wisdom on them, often proclaiming that he was an "extraordinary man," which he certainly was.

Jon is survived by his adoring wife, Angela; his daughter, Amanda Schloesser and her husband, Nick; his son, Daniel Dion; his daughter, Jessica Dion; his brothers, Gregory and his wife Robin, Peter and his wife, Jean; his sister, Augusta; his grandchildren, Grace, Sophia, Athena, Fynn, Eden, and Isla; and his mother-in-law, MaryLou Jillson. He was predeceased by his parents, John and Mieko Plassmann and Thomas Marshall, who he commonly referred to as his son.

Jon will be remembered mostly by his warm, timeless, and unforgettable smile. He lived by his kind and generous nature, which, in his last moments, he was fulfilling. We invite friends and family to leave memories and upload photos to the memorial page as a tribute to Jon's vibrant life. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the veterans' organization House in the Woods in Lee, Maine.
