John Rutovich (JR), a man who loved his country and his family profoundly, entered eternal rest peacefully at his home on April 25,2024. He was born in New Haven CT to the late Joseph and Elizabeth (Garland) Rutovich on December 23,1942. He was raised and educated in Branford CT and lived in Feeding Hills MA. John served his country proudly in the United States Marine Corps and later chose to become a member of the United States Air Force. John served the Branford CT community as a police officer prior to moving to Massachusetts. He chose a career in transportation as a driver of charter buses, and log trucks. He retired as a member of the U.S. Express Transportation Company located in East Longmeadow MA. JR had many roles in the Marine Corps League; Pay Master of the NE Division & Past Commandant of the Westfield River Valley Det. 141 Marine Corps League were a few. In his leisure John enjoyed gardening and maintaining his yard. He also made it a weekly event to take a long, leisurely drive with his wife, Sandy. John was a man of great discipline and respect and approached each day with the determination to give his best effort. His love was unwavering and unconditional.
Surviving John is his devoted wife Sandy and his beloved children Rick and his wife Anna Rutowicz, John and his wife Jodi Rutowicz and Kathleen and her husband Dan Boeger. He leaves his loving grandchildren, Katie, Anna, Addie, and Edie. He also leaves his loving brother Peter Rutovich and his wife Christina as well as nephews, cousins, and many friends.
Visitation with the family will be held on Friday May 3,2024 from 11-12:45 P.M. at the Agawam Funeral Home 184 Main Street; a short service will begin at 12:45 P.M. Committal with full military honors will follow at 2 P.M at the Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Agawam. Memorial donations in John's name may be made to a charity of one's choice.
