James T. Hulbert, a cherished friend and devoted community member, passed away on February 13, 2025, in Meriden, Connecticut, at the age of 69. Born on September 10, 1955, in Lewiston, Idaho, James was the beloved son of the late James Taylor Hulbert and Marilyn (McCoy) Hulbert.

James spent his early years in California, where he developed a love for adventure and the outdoors. He enjoyed skiing and scuba diving; passions that brought him joy and a sense of freedom. For the past 15 years, James made his home in Connecticut, with a brief period in Agawam, Massachusetts, where he formed lasting friendships and connections within the community

Professionally, James dedicated his career to the Social Security Administration, where he worked diligently in the Claims Department. His commitment to helping others extended beyond his job; he was an active and respected member of the Southwick Lyons Club, serving on the board of directors and contributing to various charitable efforts.

An avid reader, James found solace and inspiration in the pages of countless books. He also had a passion for travel, seeking new experiences and cultures, which enriched his life and the lives of those around him. His loyal guide dog and companion, CeCe, was a constant presence in his life, providing comfort and companionship.

James is survived by his siblings: Jeffrey Hulbert and his wife Julie Ann; Ann McAdoo and her husband Roy of Virginia; and Kathleen Phelps and her husband Jim of Connecticut. He leaves behind a small extended family and a wide circle of friends who will remember him for his kindness, humor, and unwavering support.

Calling hours will be held on Monday, February 24, 2025, at the Agawam Funeral Home from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM, followed by a funeral home service at 10:30 AM. Friends and family are invited to come together to celebrate James's life, share memories, and honor a remarkable man who touched the hearts of many.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Southwick Lyons Club in James's memory, continuing his legacy of service and community involvement. James will be dearly missed but will always remain in the hearts of those who loved him.
