Obituary

The loving family of Gloria Cormier sadly announces her passing on Saturday, July 13, 2024. She was 86 years old.

Born in Holyoke in 1937 to the late Joseph Rock and Gabrielle (Roy) Rock, she was raised and educated there. Gloria married the love of her life, Neil C. Cormier, and they soon settled in Agawam, raising their two children. Gloria and Neil spent fifty-five happy years together until his passing in 2012.

Gloria loved children. She was a wonderful and loving mother, and over the course of her life she was a godmother, babysitter, foster care mom, and a licensed day care provider to more kids than she could count. She loved and nurtured them all as if they were her own. She operated Happy Days Home Daycare with her husband from 1990 until they retired in 2002. It was a labor of love for them both.

In her leisure time she enjoyed cooking, shopping, tag sales, going to the Majestic Theater, and traveling. She especially looked forward to annual vacations at Old Orchard Beach, Maine, which always included stops for her favorite food -french fries- at the pier.  She mostly enjoyed spending time with her family, loving them as only a mother could. Gloria touched many lives, and her memory will live on in their hearts.

Gloria leaves her devoted children Neil "Bill" Cormier and Cindy and her husband Gregg Weaver, all of Agawam. She also leaves her adored grandchildren Joseph Bushey, and Kristin Bushey and her partner Jeremy Manfredi, as well as extended family and great friends. She will be greatly missed by her two "grand puppies", Penny and Cooper, who she totally spoiled with way too many treats and just enough love.

She was predeceased by her husband Neil C. Cormier and her brother Peter Rock.

All services for Gloria will be held privately including committal at the Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery where she will be reunited with her dear husband Neil.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Research Hospital for Children, or Toys for Tots.
