Glenn Edward
Elmer
February 23, 2026
Glenn Edward Elmer, age 71, peacefully left us on February 23, 2026. Born to Jacqueline A. (Bostwick) Elmer and Glenn H. Elmer on April 30, 1954, in North Adams, MA, he was raised by his loving grandparents, Charles and Jennette Tenet. Glenn attended Mohawk Regional High before making the bold choice to join the U.S. Navy at the age of 17. He proudly served aboard the USS Newport News from 1971 to 1974 and continued in the Naval Reserves until 1977. His service was honored with the National Defense Service Medal, a testament to his dedication.
Glenn was a man with a wide array of interests. He loved exploring world religions and learning about the many ways humanity finds connection. He enjoyed sports, video games, movies, music and sharing stories with friends. Known for his playful sense of humor, cheesy dad jokes, and his unique talent for dozing off in the funniest places, Glenn made a lasting impression on everyone who knew him.
He's survived by his children, Heidi and Michael; his sisters, Rosemarie and Wanda; his brothers, Sterling and William; his cousin Ron; and many other relatives. We're all going to miss him. Glenn was predeceased by his grandparents, parents, sisters Mary (Elmer) Wiles and Barbara Jones, and brother James Elmer.
The family wants to thank the caring staff at CareOne at Redstone for their kindness and support over nearly 18 years. Special thanks go to Pastor Bob and Kadian for always bringing a smile to his face.
A service will be held at the Massachusetts Veterans Cemetery on Friday, April 10, 2026, at 3:00 pm.
