George Paul
Bellefeuille
Jul 11, 1947 — Jun 19, 2026
George Paul Bellefeuille, 78, of Agawam, Massachusetts, passed away on June 19, 2026, surrounded by his loved ones, after a 20-year battle with multiple myeloma. He was born on July 11, 1947, in Holyoke to the late Charles E. and Estelle M. (Provost) Bellefeuille.
Raised in the Willimansett neighborhood of Chicopee, he served as an altar server for Nativity Church for many years and was an active, proud member of Boy Scout Troop 424. A Scout until the age of 18, he mentored countless younger Scouts up through the ranks to Eagle Scout. George worked at Pat’s Supermarket from high school through college and beyond, serving in almost every role from cashier, back when each price was manually keyed in, to assistant manager. After graduating from Precious Blood High School, Holyoke, in 1965 and earning a degree in Education and French from Westfield State College (now University) in 1969, George started his 45-year career as a high school teacher in the Chicopee public schools.
He was an involved union member in the Chicopee Education Association, the Massachusetts Teachers Association, and the National Education Association. A skilled and generous handyman and craftsman, George spent countless weekends and summers tackling home improvement projects for family and friends. After his retirement in 2014, he continued to work wonders with his enormous stockpile of hand and power tools, enjoyed traveling with his wife and family, and played a fierce game of Jeopardy!
George is survived by his wife Dianne (Ledoux); daughter Barbara (Tony) Gutierrez; stepson Andrew McGuinness; grandsons Antonio (Brooke) Gutierrez; Austin (Drew) Gutierrez; and Sam Gutierrez; sisters Cecile (Anthony) Grassano and Jeanne (Allen) Gagnon; brother Robert (Nancy) Bellefeuille; father-in-law Ralph Ledoux; nieces, nephews, grands, great-grands, colleagues, and friends. He is also survived by his former wife, Linda (Yankowski) Bellefeuille. He was preceded in death by his parents, mother-in-law Claire Ledoux, and grandnephew Beau Danis Gagnon.
The family expresses its gratitude to the team at Dana-Farber, Boston, the nurses at the Sister Caritas Cancer Center, Springfield, and the Harmony Hospice team, West Springfield.
Visitation will be Sunday, June 28, 2026, from 1:00 until 4:00 p.m. at the Agawam Funeral Home, 184 Main Street, Agawam. A visitation will be on Monday, June 29, 2026, at 9:30 a.m., followed by a service at 10:00 a.m. in the funeral home.
