Belhumeur
July 17, 1932 – September 10, 2024
George E. Belhumeur, son of the late Hilda and George Belhumeur, passed away at his home on September 10, 2024. George was born in Springfield, Massachusetts on July 17, 1932. He graduated from Springfield Technical High School. After Graduation, he joined the Marine Corp during the Korean War. After his honorable discharge from the service, he attended the University of Massachusetts and earned a degree in electrical engineering. For most of his career, he worked for Boeing and Diebold Inc.
In his leisure time, George enjoyed playing golf with his brother-in-law Peter Hoffman. He also enjoyed listening to classical music and watching movies. His favorite movie was Singing in The Rain. He loved watching it with his young nieces. Years later it's still their favorite movie.
Besides his parents, George was predeceased by his brother Raymond. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Catherine (Harkins) Belhumeur; his sister-in-law Maureen Hoffman and her husband Peter, his brother-in-law Robert Harkins (wife deceased), his sister-in-law Betty Harkins (husband deceased) and Carlo Reno, a close family friend. He also leaves behind his beloved nieces and nephews, among them Ian Bolduc, his God Child.
George's wife extends her sincere appreciation to Baystate Hospice for the compassionate care they gave to George and to her friends and family for their support and love during this difficult time. A special thanks to Amber Hoffman for helping to take care of her Uncle George and for preparing some of his favorite meals. George loved Mabel, the family dog. She brought him great joy and loved him unconditionally.
Friends and family will meet at Agawam Funeral Home on Tuesday, September 17, 2024, at 1:30 PM and will travel in procession to Massachusetts Veterans' Memorial Cemetery for a Military Honors Funeral Service at 2:00 PM.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in George's memory to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
