Obituary

Francis P. Magagnoli, a true gentleman and a man of distinguished character, was called safely home on Saturday June 22,2024 surrounded by the love and comfort of his family. Frank was the only child of the late Jennie and Delmo Magagnoli born December 26,1954 in Springfield. Along with Frank's late grandparents, Vincenzo, and Frances Langone, they showered him with much love, providing him with a childhood where he was instilled with a strong sense of pride and commitment yet a gentle side of love and devotion. Frank attended Holy Family School and later graduated from Springfield Trade High School where he earned an associate's degree in marine technology. He began his career as a machinist at Kidder Stacey and then as a tool maker at Kaman Aircraft. Frank was determined to continue to grow in his field and pursued further education which enabled him to advance to Quality Control Engineer at Kaman where he completed twenty-six successful years before his retirement from Aerospace. Frank then became a valued member of the staff at the Agawam Funeral Home where he served the families with kindness and respect. Frank had a unique ability to make everyone in his presence feel as if they were family. He was proud of his Italian heritage and very active in the social life of the city's south end. He was a past president of the Our Lady of Mount Carmel Italian Club and he inherited the position of maestro for the Springfield Italian Marching Band. He served for over forty years in this capacity marching in religious celebrations in both Springfield and Enfield as well as the Big E. Being kind and compassionate Frank was a hospice volunteer with his faithful collie Salvatore Rosario not only visiting hospice patients but also residents at Mount St Vincent Nursing Home in Holyoke. He was also an auxiliary Police Officer in Agawam. Frank was an avid dog lover, and he will be greatly missed by his golden retriever McGregor, better known as Mack and had a fondness for his cat Ralph. To say Frank was the life of the party would be an understatement. Frank was the party. He loved to have a good time and cooking as well as enjoying fine Italian food was a delight for him. Never was there a man more dapper than Frank, always meticulously groomed or more engaging in conversation. Frank was very patriotic and enjoyed discussing politics. He loved life, his country but above all his family. Being in the company of his family showering them with his love was the very essence of his being. For those who had the good fortune to be a part of his life he will remain in their hearts forever and his spirit will never be forgotten.

Surviving Frank is his devoted son Francis Jr and his wife Cindy and his adored grandchildren Cody, Adam, Stephanie and husband Alex and Dominick. He will be greatly missed by his small extended family and countless friends. Sadly, he was predeceased by his parents, Diane Charter (ex-wife whom frank and she shared their beloved son Francis) his cousins Anthony, Ciro, Jimmy and JJ Langone and his faithful companions Salvatore, Livingston, Bandit, Bailey and Bacardi. His cousin Ciro was not only his cousin but his best friend and partner in crime. Frank requested special thanks to Shelly Borgatti (his beautiful ex-wife), Lisa Bowie and JoAnn Slosek for their constant support, Joanna and the hospice team, and to the staff at the Agawam Funeral Home for their concern and camaraderie.

Visitation with the family will take place on Friday June 28,2024 from 4-7 P.M. at the Agawam Funeral Home 184 Main Street. Family and friends will gather on Saturday June 29,2024 beginning at 10 A.M. concluding with a funeral home service to begin at 11 A.M. Committal rites will immediately follow at Springfield Street Cemetery in Feeding Hills. Memorial donations to honor Frank may be made to St. Jude's Research Hospitals for Children.
