Obituary

The family of Eric G Marai is deeply saddened to announce his untimely and unexpected passing on June 6,2025 at his home. Born in Springfield to the late Valentnou and Patricia (McCann) Marai on August 13,1960 he spent his younger years in Agawam and graduated from Putnum Vocational High School. He then chose to serve his country honorably for several years in the United States Army. Eric was a true patriot determined to show his love for his country and accepted the challenges his service would bring. He bravely dealt with the aftereffects each day, never allowing himself to be anything but kind and loving. His great love for the military was part of his being. He was also very fond of watching sports and was an avid Boston fan of both the Red Sox and the Patriots. Eric found politics to be engaging and showed a great interest in the daily happenings. He was a Christian looking forward to the day he would enter the gates of heaven. Eric was gentle, loving soul who gave of himself freely and completely. His family gives their heartfelt gratitude to the entire staff at the Berkshire Rehab in Sandifield for all the love and care he received; he loved them dearly. Eric greeted each day cheerfully and happy to be alive, never giving in to his demons. For those fortunate enough to be part of his life he will forever remain in their hearts.

Surviving Eric is his devoted sister Kathy Cincotta and his beloved nieces Sal Cincotta and Chloe Cincotta and her wife Madeline Yorty and his family at Berkshire Rehab.

Family and friends will gather on Friday June 20, 2025, no later than 10:30 A.M. at the Agawam Funeral Home 184 Main Street and travel in procession to the Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery for an 11 A.M. committal with full military honors. For those wishing to honor Eric and his love of his country the family suggests donations be made to the Wounded Warriors Project.
