Obituary

Elmyra A. Harbey

August 17, 1931 – December 9, 2024

With deep sorrow, we announce the passing of Elmyra Harbey, lovingly known as "Emmy," who left us on December 9, 2024. Born on August 17, 1931, in Springfield, Massachusetts, Emmy lived a life devoted to her family and the warmth of home. Her radiant smile and generous heart touched all who knew her, embodying the true essence of love and family bonds.

A cherished lifelong resident of Feeding Hills, Massachusetts, where Emmy was a proud cheerleader and field hockey player for Agawam High School, class of '49. She later moved to West Springfield, Massachusetts. Emmy embraced her role as a full-time housewife with unmatched dedication. She had a remarkable talent for cooking and entertaining, transforming every family gathering into a cherished memory filled with her delicious meals and warm hospitality. Her home was a sanctuary of joy, where her flair for decoration and love for shopping created an inviting atmosphere for all.

Emmy's grace extended beyond her home; she was an active and devoted member of the St. Anthony's Maronite Guild, where her faith shone brightly. In 1954, she married her beloved husband, William Harbey, at St. Anthony's Maronite Church, a union that exemplified true partnership and love.

Emmy leaves behind a beautiful legacy of love. She is survived by her son, Billy Harbey (Janet), daughter Diane Sapelli (John), son Jeff Harbey (Kathy), son Joey Harbey, and daughter Evie Pelley (Jay), along with her cherished grandchildren Krista, Johnny, Kara, David, Nicole, Ariana, Charles, Paige, Lexi, Alyah, and Joey, who will forever carry her memory in their hearts. She is also survived by her sister, Ann "Nunie" Malkoon. She is reunited in peace with her beloved husband, William, her parents, James and Jennie Sadak, her siblings, and her granddaughter, Christina Harbey.

Donations can be made in Elmyra's honor to St. Anthony's Maronite Catholic Church or St. Jude Children's Hospital.
