Edward J.
Borlen
June 2, 2025
Edward J. Borlen, a man of great character and integrity, entered eternal rest peacefully in the loving comfort of his devoted wife, Lorraine on June 2,2025. He was taken too soon and unexpectedly, but his legacy will remain. Eddie was born in Holyoke to the late Edward F. and Sophia (Marra) Borlen and spent his youth and was educated in West Springfield where he remained a lifelong resident. He was enthusiastic and ambitious in his early years and had such a passion for cars that he was a natural to become a real car guy. And there was none better than "Fast Eddie." And until he fell in love with his beloved Lorraine and they wed in 1991, being an auto aficionado was his passion. He and Lorraine built a wonderful life together enjoying the success of Eddie's career. He was the owner of Hilltop Motors in Springfield for forty years and was also associated with F C Auto Sales in Hampden. Eddie crafted the slogan "we are on the hill, but we are always on the level." And that was Eddie always happy to incite a laugh or two with his portfolio of jokes. He looked forward to Saratoga every summer and in the winter joined the snowbirds in Fort Lauderdale leaving the cold and snow behind. He was a long-standing member of the Springfield Country Club. Eddie not only was a real car guy, but he was a man who was fiercely loyal, honest, and true to his family and friends. He could draw a crowd with his bigger than life personality and enjoyed the camaraderie. To those whose lives he touched and there were many, Eddie will never be forgotten.
Surviving Eddie are his devoted wife Lorraine, her family and countless friends among them two very special friends, Frank Colanti and Mike "the curb" Bonavita, Tim Hourihan and crew and Bobby Cunningham.
