Edna
Imelio
August 19, 1938 – April 12, 2024
Edna Imelio,85, of Agawam MA, known to all as Midge or Midgie, was called home safely to God on Friday April 12,2024 the day she and her husband Carlo celebrated their 66th wedding anniversary. Born in Burlington, Vermont on August 19,1938 to the late Harold and Madeline (Morris) Newman, Midge was raised and educated in Springfield's North End graduating from Commerce High School in 1956. A year later, she and Carlo began their journey together welcoming two children, Nicholas, and Joanne. Midge created a loving, nurturing home for her family instilling in her children her values of love, dedication, and generosity. Her door was always open, and she welcomed everyone (and all neighborhood dogs) with a smile and " can I get you anything? " Creating meals for her family and friends was a labor of love for Midge. She also had a special talent for baking, especially beautiful cakes for everyone's birthdays for many years. Midge was a woman with whose generous spirit had no limits and her love was unconditional and unwavering. She will be remembered for her kindness, genuine warmth, sense of humor, and her gorgeous red hair. She will be dearly missed. The impact of her life will continue to be felt through the memories shared by those who loved and had the honor of knowing her.
Midge leaves her beloved husband Carlo and her devoted children; daughter Joanne O'Donoghue and her husband John, whom she absolutely adored, of Westfield and her son Nicholas Imelio of Brooklyn N.Y. and his Goddaughters Keeley and Teagan Parish, also of Brooklyn. She also leaves nieces Kelli McGrath, Kristi Galin, Wendy Kinney, Cathy Benner, nephew Bill Whitney, grandnieces Caleigh McGrath and Carleigh Galin and grandnephew Connor Galin. Midge is also survived by childhood and lifelong friend Jeannette Boudry, and Bettina and Alan Reid and their sons Brett and Rob, neighbors who quickly became family and remain a central part of our lives. She was predeceased by her sister Geraldine Knight and brother Harold Newman Jr.
