Obituary

Edmund W. Rodeen, beloved partner, brother, uncle, and friend, passed away peacefully on June 12, 2024, in Enfield, CT, at the age of 73. With his loving family at his side. Born on October 25, 1950, in Westfield, MA.

Edmund spent his formative years in Springfield, MA, developing a lifelong passion for sports, humor, and family. He later moved to Enfield, CT, where he resided for approximately 17 years, building a life filled with love, laughter, and a strong community spirit.

A dedicated and hard-working individual, Edmund found his professional calling in car sales, working for Dean Moke America. His colleagues and customers will remember his warm disposition, integrity, and unwavering commitment to his work, a testament to his inspiring dedication.

Edmund was an avid joke teller known for bringing smiles and laughter to those around him. His zest for life was evident in his love for scratch tickets and his daily ritual of playing the Daily Numbers. Edmund, a big sports fan, enjoyed countless hours watching games on TV, often sharing his enthusiasm with family and friends. His greatest joy, however, came from spending time with his loved ones, creating precious memories that will be cherished forever.

He is survived by his loving girlfriend of more than 20 years, Laurie Richards. He also leaves behind his devoted sisters, Winnie Cardaropoli, Abby Backiel and her husband Brett, and Eileen O'Keefe and her husband John, as well as his treasured nieces and nephews: Matt O'Keefe and his wife Jen, Nancy Cardaropoli and her husband Gabe Parent, Claudio Cardaropoli and his companion Theresa Borecki, Tom Ryan and his wife Nicole, Stephanie O'Keefe and her husband Michael Mckenna, and Elizabeth Backiel. Laurie's daughters, Carrie Richards Leary and her husband Shawn, Ashley Spielman and her husband Jon, and Jessica Luginbuhl and her husband Ben who brought immense joy and companionship into Edmund's life.  He also left behind many grandnieces and grandnephews as well as Laurie's grandchildren. His presence will be sorely missed by his large extended family and many friends, who admired his kindness, humor, and generous spirit. His love for his family was a beacon of light in their lives, a testament to the depth of his relationships.

Donations can be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital in Edmund's memory, honoring his legacy of compassion and care for others.
