Dorothy M
Bassette
June 23, 1932 – April 20, 2026
A Mother's love is something that no one can explain, it is made of deep devotion and pain. It is endless, unselfish, and enduring come what may. For nothing can destroy it or take that love away. Devoted mother, grandmother and friend, Dorothy M. Bassette was called safely home on April 20,26 at her residence encircled by her family's comfort. She was born in Alston MA, where she spent her youth, to the late Charles and Mildred (Keagan) Davis on June 23,1932. Dorothy became a wife and mother and took immense pride in creating a nurturing environment raising her children, instilling in them the values that were most important to her. Her home was her castle, and she took the opportunity to make anyone entering feel welcome and appreciated. She possessed a unique talent in working with her hands in the creative craft of designing cakes. Her skills in applying and styling icing on cakes were untouchable. Dorothy was a valued member of the staff at Liberty Bakery for many years, retiring as the supervisor of cake decorating. She also enjoyed candle pin bowling and crafting. Her greatest pleasure was spending time with her family. Her devotion and loyalty to them was boundless and her legacy will live on through them.
Surviving Dorothy are her beloved children, Lawrence Dutton and Michael Dutton and his fiancé Lisa. To cherish her memory, she leaves her seventeen grandchildren, ten great grandchildren and her brother Lawrence Davis. Sadly, she was predeceased by her husband William Bassette, her son Francis Dutton, and her daughter Deborah Turner.
Visitation with her family will be held on Wednesday April 29, 2026, from noon until 1 P.M. at which time a funeral home service will be held. Committal rites will follow at the Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery at 2 P.M.
