July 23, 1960 – April 13, 2025
With heartfelt sadness the family of Debra Varney Gezotis announces her untimely and sudden passing on April 13,2025 Born in Springfield to the late Kenneth and Pauline (Hunt) Varney, she was raised there and attended local schools. Debra loved to cook and bake and was amazing at it. if you had her chocolate cherry cake you knew how talented she was. Debra also loved animals. You could catch her trying to feed any stray animals, she also had beautiful cats throughout her life and loved to spend time with a giant puppy named Bandit who weighed more than her. She had a wonderful connection with any animals she met. Debra also loved rock music, and she would let you know when your radio channel was not up to her standards. She had an amazing green thumb and could bring any plants back to life.
Debra surviving are her three daughters: Riki Marie, Diana Bell and her husband Zach Bell and Desiree Craig along with four grandchildren Veronica, Anthony, Oliver, and Lincoln. She also leaves behind her siblings Kenny Varney and his wife Linda, John Garafolo and his partner Corrine Lattell,Dennnis Garafolo, Gina Messenger, and her husband Tom. Debra will be greatly missed by her companion Gary Gilbert and her best friend Ruby as well as several nieces, nephews, and friends.
Public visitation with the family will be held on Friday April 18,2025 for 10-11 A.M. at the Agawam Funeral Home 184 Main Street concluding with a funeral home service beginning at 11 A.M. For those wishing to remember Debra in a special way the family suggests donations be made to the Dakin Humane Society 171 Union St Springfield MA 01105 or dakinhumane.org
