Obituary

Beloved father, grandfather, uncle and friend Daniel P. Payne passed away encircled by the love of his family on May 26,2025. Born in Springfield on January 26,1934 to the late Michael and Theresa (Foley) Payne, he spent his youth and was educated there graduating from Trade High School class of 1952. For the love of his country, he was honored to serve in the United States Marines and was a proud veteran of the Korean War. He wed Louise Terzi in 1953, and they welcomed their family and spent fifty-seven years together until her passing in 2010. Daniel chose to use his skills in the manufacturing field and was a valued member of the electro-plating teams, first at the Springfield Armory and then at Fountain Plating and United Technologies until his retirement. In his leisure Daniel enjoyed gardening and painting, especially watercolors. He also chose to give freely of his time and talent as a member of the Knights of Columbus at St. John the Evangelist Church. Traveling with his family brought him immense joy and among his favorite destinations were the beach and the cottage in Stafford Springs where many wonderful memories were made. Daniel also had a special place in his heart for his dogs. He was a kind, generous man who gave freely of himself asking nothing in return. His love for his family, his country and his church was the fabric of his being. He will forever remain in the hearts of those he loved and whose lives he touched.

Surviving Daniel are his three devoted daughters and their spouses: Danielle Foint and her husband Steven, Doreen Payne Mahala and her husband Jay, Donna Zucco and her husband Frank, and his loving son Michael Payne. He also leaves his adored grandson Tim and his partner Jaymie Bembury, several nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. He was predeceased by his beloved wife Louise, his cherished grandson Jeffrey, sister Lucille "Bunny," and brothers Robert and his twin Donald. The family expresses heartfelt thanks to the Arbors Reflections Team led by Talin and his other caring, compassionate caregivers, Mary, Charlene, Santy, Barbara, Freddy, and Deb.
