Obituary

Carroll J. Kida passed away peacefully on January 31, 2026. He was born on June 17, 1941, in Chicopee, Massachusetts, to Joseph and Emily (Pieciak) Kida.

After graduating from high school, Carroll proudly served his country in the United States Army, stationed in Germany, where he worked as a truck driver. Following his military service, he built a long career as a skilled welder and mechanic, working for several local companies, including LEGO. Carroll was known for his strong work ethic, craftsmanship, and mechanical talent.

At his home in Chester, Carroll devoted time to creating metal artistic fabrications. Among his most meaningful works were the gates at St. Thomas Cemetery in Huntington, Massachusetts—a lasting tribute to his skill and creativity.

Carroll will be deeply missed by his beloved wife of 51 years, Sharon; his children, Suzanne (Keith) Laporte and Bozena (Jeremy) Oliver; and his grandchildren, Alex (Mollie) Laporte, Ava Laporte, Annette Laporte, and Wyatt and Dahlia Oliver. He was predeceased by his daughter, Ashleigh Dunton.

He is also survived by his sisters, Ursula Smith, Gail Slaimen, and Christine (Joe) Paulo, along with many cherished nieces and nephews.

Services will be held in the Spring at the Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Agawam.
