Obituary

A man who cherishes the hum of an engine and the quiet of the outdoors is often described as a true steward of the land. Carleton D. Petrucci passed away peacefully in the love and comfort of his family on July 16,2026 after an extended illness. He was born in Springfield on June 2,1949 to the late Sebastian and Doris (Darbe) Petrucci and spent his youth and was educated in Agawam graduating from Agawam High School class of 1967. He went on the proudly serve his country in the United States Army. Carl worked various mechanic positions including Chapman Valve and Pratt & Whitney before choosing a career working for the United States Postal Service in Indian Orchard as a maintenance mechanic. He wed his beloved wife, Nancy (Francis) Petrucci in 1988 and they spent twenty-three years happily married until her passing in 2011. Carl was a devoted husband and father who took immense pride in his home and his family living a simple life thankful for the God given treasures around him. He became a proud Huntington resident in the early 90’s and he loved his time on his tractor, working his land, and tending to his gardens. Carl looked forward to each opportunity for a renovation project and never tired of the challenge. He appreciated the quiet and beauty of nature and enjoyed fishing and watching the wildlife that surrounded him. His greatest pleasure was spending time with his family showering them with his love and sharing the simple pleasures in life. Those who were fortunate enough to know him will carry his memory in their hearts.

Surviving Carl is his devoted daughter, Jennifer Petrucci and her fiancé David Fay and his stepdaughter Nancy Taupier and her husband James. He also leaves his siblings Claudia Kurtz (David), Russell Petrucci (Sherry), and Michael Petrucci (Katherine), many nieces, nephews, and friends. Sadly, he was predeceased by his beloved wife Nancy and his sister Rosada Petrucci, brother Sebastian Petrucci, and brother Charles Petrucci.

Visitation with his family will take place on Wednesday, July 29, 2026, from 4 until 6 P.M. at the Agawam Funeral Home, 184 Main Street. Family & friends will gather on Thursday, July 30, 2026, at 9 A.M. with a funeral home service beginning at 9:45 A.M., officiated by Rev. Michael Pertrucci. Followed by a committal with full military honors at the Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Agawam.
