Albert J. King, born in the charming town of Swampscott, Massachusetts, on November 30, 1938, passed away on December 9, 2024. He was a man whose remarkable character and enduring spirit left an indelible mark on everyone he encountered. A devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, Albert filled his life with passion and purpose. No matter the challenges he faced, he approached them with a smile, an infectious laugh, and an unyielding determination that inspired those around him.
For 22 years, Albert served his country as a distinguished club manager in the Air Force, embodying the true spirit of patriotism. His commitment and dedication to service were unwavering, and even after retirement, he carried that sense of duty with him. In the military community, he wasn't just a colleague; he was a mentor, a friend, and a pillar of strength for many. His warm demeanor and strong work ethic made him a beloved figure among his peers.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, Albert was an avid football fan, having played in high school and would eagerly watch any games on television any chance he got. Albert was also an excellent salesman, he sold insurance for 20 years and earned many accolades due to his strong work ethic, and drive to do his best every single day. Albert cherished reunions with his friends, reliving the good old days and creating new memories filled with laughter and camaraderie.
For 38 wonderful years, Albert called West Springfield home, where he built a loving life with his wife, Larraine. Together, they nurtured a family that brought him endless joy. Albert is survived by his devoted wife, Larraine; his children, Albert Jr., Paige Stewart, Douglas, and Gayle (Robert) King; his son-in-law, Robert (Gayle) Given; his former daughter-in-law, Margaret MacTavish; his brother, Peter (Judy) Maunsell; and his daughter-in-law, Judy (Peter). He was a proud grandfather to Anthony, Alec, Spenser, Shannon, Jacob, and Jayden. Albert also leaves behind cherished nieces, nephews, cousins, and countless friends who will always remember his kindness. He was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Albert Sr. and Ethel King, and his dear sister, Frances.
A faithful member of St. Thomas the Apostle Church, Albert's faith was a guiding light in his life, providing him with strength and purpose. His legacy of love, laughter, and unwavering support will forever resonate in the hearts of those who knew him.
