Alan L. Anderson, 86, died unexpectedly March 12, 2024, at Baystate Medical Center.

He was born August 19, 1937, in Pittsfield Mass. He was the son of Harold Anderson and Beatrice Champagne Anderson.

Al graduated from Springfield Technical high school, Class of 1955. He joined the National Guard and served for 8 years. On 11/28/1959 he married the love of his life Judy (Charon) Anderson. They celebrated 64 years of marriage in November. Al loved country dancing with his wife. He also loved flying model airplanes and racing RC cars with his best friend Ray Kinney. Al was a kind gentle man so loved by his family and many friends.

In 2010 Al retired after 25 years as a master mechanic at Central Chevrolet in West Springfield. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by 2 brothers Roger and Paul. Also, his brother-in-law and sister-in-law Ray and Joan Kinney of Agawam. In addition, he was predeceased by his beloved mother-in-law Peg Charon.

Surviving in addition to his cherished wife Judy, he leaves behind a special son and daughter-in-law Christopher and Kathy Anderson of Springfield with whom he and Judy made their home. He also leaves behind his loved caretaker Damaris Montanez. He also leaves a son Gregory Anderson of Columbia, South America. He leaves behind 2 brothers Donald and Wayne as well as a sister Rose Marie. He also leaves many nieces and nephews and countless friends.

Visitation with the family will be held on Monday March 18,2024 from 4:30-7 P.M. with a funeral home service to begin at 6:30 P.M. at the Agawam Funeral Home 184 Main Street in Agawam.

Those who wish to remember Al in a special way may make gifts in his memory to St. Jude Hospital or Alzheimer's Association.
